Working Class Rock Star is a 2008 documentary directed by Justin McConnell. Synopsis: "The music industry is changing, record sales are down, artists are making less money, and mediocrity holds sway. Yet there are more bands than ever before working for years just to receive even the tiniest drop of success. Following the lives and careers of Tub Ring, Bloodshoteye and 3 Mile Scream, with supporting interviews from major players in the heavy music scene, this documentary sheds light on why some bands never make it and why the ones that break realize only too late that life on a label is only the beginning of their troubles." The film was shot between June 2005 and June 2007, capturing a two year period in the careers of each of the 3 main bands. The information given in the film comes from candid interviews with popular artists from the heavy and underground music scene. Tub Ring: Kevin Gibson, Rob Kleiner, Jason Fields, Shawn Sprinkel, James Cole, Trevor Erb, Chris Wiken, Jeff Enokian Working Class Rock Star has obtained a North American DVD distribution deal through Cinema Epoch. The DVD release is set for November 11, 2008, and will be available for pre-order at your favorite retailer a couple of months before that. |
